About KING: Kids in the Game (KING) is dedicated to developing New York City’s youth by providing opportunities through sports and fitness to the schools and communities we serve. Our goal is to develop the next generation of leaders by developing healthy habits, an active lifestyle, and promoting personal growth through play and competition. During the school year, KING is rooted in dozens of schools around New York City, offering recess, after-school, physical education, early drop off fitness, creative movement and sports instruction. In addition, KING operates summer camps, sports clinics (basketball, soccer, volleyball), and special events.
About the Position:
KING is hiring a team of Early Childhood Creative Arts, Sports & Movement Specialists to lead after school activities with children ages 2-5 years at a school based in the Riverdale section of the Bronx.
School Location: SAR Academy (655 W 254th St, Bronx, NY 10471)
Program Dates/Times: Monday through Thursday, 2:30 – 4:30 pm
Compensation: Hourly rates based on prior experience
Activity Instruction: lead age-appropriate classroom activities in the areas of creative arts, movement/dance, and sports/games with a group of 15-20 children ages 2-5 years
Creative Curriculum: Implement a curriculum of engaging activities that can be adapted to children’s various learning styles and developmental needs
Communication & Classroom Management: lead classroom activities using effective communication and group management tools for preschool- and pre-kindergarten children
Behavior Management: display patience and utilize positive behavior management skills to manage children’s behaviors and respond to their needs
Applicants should be available to work Monday – Thursday from April – June 2019
Applicants should possess at least two years of prior experience working with 2-5 year old children or in a similar early childhood setting
Applicants should be skilled in creative arts, dance/movement, or physical fitness activities that are appropriate for children ages 2-5 years
Applicants should possess strong interpersonal skills to relate to younger children, work with different age groups, and partner with school staff to support children’s physical and emotional needs
