Financial Analyst

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

  • We are looking for a talented and hardworking Financial Analyst to help our current finance team collect data for program pricing, staff ratios/staffing costs, budgeting and invoices. To qualify for this role, you should have previous experience in accounting, finance, and data collection. Your first project will require you to assist the finance team in creating budgets for each of our school-based programs for the 2019-2020 school year. You will also work on preparing and sending monthly invoices to our school partners and external clients to ensure that we maintain an accurate record of accounts receivable transactions.
  • To succeed in this role, you should be comfortable managing an independent workload and also be able to collaborate with the whole team on larger projects that involve accounts payable/receivable, tracking company expenses, and revenue/cost projections. Excellent communication, organization, and interpersonal skills will help you work with and support our partners, multitask in a fast-paced environment, and remain focused to effectively navigate high-pressure situations.

Key functions of this role include:

  • Prepare invoices and maintain relationships with school partners, vendors, and other clients
  • Track company account receivables and maintain A/R aging summary report
  • Summarizes current financial status and provide accounting advice to reduce costs, enhance revenues and improve profits.
  • Analyze probability of different programs and provide recommendations to reach economies of scale, organize and analyze company’s business revenues, payroll, costs, operating expenses and trends.
  • Assist preparing company’s budget statements and generate reports to management on actual and budget variances and the reasons for those variances.
  • Analyze company’s debt structure and forecast company’s cash position and related borrowing needs
  • Coordinate with internal and external accounting and financial professionals and senior management team to ensure the effectiveness and efficiency of company’s finance department and daily operating activities.
  • Participate in due diligence process with investors; provide financial and accounting information for internal and external requests.

WHAT WE ARE GOING TO LOVE ABOUT YOU: Our ideal candidate would meet some or all of the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree (or equivalent experience) in related field (accounting, finance, data, business)
  • 1-3 years accounting, auditing, finance, operation related working experience
  • Understanding of operational tasks related to running sports programs and/or tournaments, including equipment purchasing, event planning, and event promotion
  • Excellent analytical skills and advanced excel skills
  • Passionate to be working at a mission driven company
  • Self-motivated, organized, and extremely detail-oriented to ensure that programs run smoothly and you are consistently meeting project deadlines
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment and willingness to go the extra mile
  • Comfortable traveling across NYC via public transportation
  • Prior experience using G-Suite and MS tools, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Excellent communication and writing skills in English
  • Strong work ethic, team spirit, and a friendly, warm attitude
